What’s best for Waverton village?

We might soon get a close look at how North Sydney Council is spending the “Special Rate Variation” (otherwise known as the current rates hike).

As part of “investing in North Sydney’s future” the Council is planning works along Bay Road at the shops. The planning and works project is called “Waverton Village public domain improvements”.

The Council wants individuals to send a private message about this to the Council website – by the end of the month:

  • You’ll notice that it’s a fairly long survey on a series of generic issues, a bit like an opinion poll.
  • Later the Council will advertise their “masterplan” for comment.
  • Later again, the Council will adjust their masterplan and implement it.

We at the Precinct might have an alternative process. We could:

  • find out where this came from and what it is all about;
  • ask for an indication of how much is in the budget;
  • convene a workshop to generate ideas;
  • discuss at our November meeting; and
  • send the results to the Council.

We expect to talk to the Community Engagement people about this, soon.
